So. To continue my current stroke of luck, I knocked a glass of ice water onto my laptop. It was like the movies. I saw it falling in slow motion, tried to grab it, and watched in horror as it started to seep in between the keys. Before I can do anything, I hear this 'hissss' sound and my laptop dies. Laptop is exactly a year old and I had spent some good, good money on it too since I knew I'd be doing some Photoshop/video editing AND I wanted it to be light enough to carry to and from law school everyday AND I wanted it to last at least another four years.

It's been drying for a few days now. I think I'll try to turn it back on in another day or two. I'm currently on one of those netbooks a wonderful individual has let me borrow. I'm trying to keep my spirits high and hopeful but that hiss just keeps echoing in my head.......

But yeah. That's my new excuse for not being online.

And not being online for 5 days = 2.5 hours of replying to school/work emails only. Not even fun stuff. And to think, school hasn't even started yet.

I'm back from Europe. A week as of today. I have a return date to the real/online world.--July 1, 2009.

-- Interning (for free) at the Capital Defenders Office

I just needed to get this out there. And since I'm bringing this upon myself, I'm not asking for sympathy with this post. Well, maybe I am subconsciously. I don't know. I don't have enough brain power to to any self-analysis. I've analyzed enough crap this past week.

Thoughts for today. Feeling very mellow b/c of law school. This is much more than I would normally post on lj. 
I probably go f-lock it in a day. So stalkers, enjoy. For now.

<whine>Law school kicked my butt today. Rule against perpetuities? RWA Open Memo? *shudder* *stress* *headdesk*</whine>

I have a friend that likes to watch out for me. Make sure that I make the wise choice. Make sure I study etc. But I was told today that I am stubborn and will do what I want to do and he's giving up on "controlling" me. I can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing. This is why Boyfriend was good. He knew when to let me do what I wanted but he also kept me grounded.

My Google phone is coming tomorrow. A day before the official release date. I called UPS 3 times today to try to get it earlier. Earliest I can get it is 9 a.m. tomorrow. Yes, I know I'm silly.

I desperately miss everyone on my f-list. Especially nbaeker and numbaby. And Carrie and Cel and Kel and Jandy and Myn and Leigh and Elle and Kate and... screw it. I miss everyone. I know everyone will say it won't happen but I have this tiny fear that everyone is going to forget about me.

That goes for real life friends too. I met some cool ppl lately but I don't have time to pursue those friendships, don't have time to maintain the old ones. Freaking law school better be worth it. I want my Maserati.

I got a "promotion" at church. I'll be directing/producing an hour long live show every month for an audience of 1000+ with all the trimmings. Lights, cameras, video, music, actors, singers, dancers. It's very exciting.

I got to see Wicked the other night. It was so so so so much fun. Pic of date and me behind cut. I'm posting these b/c it's been a while since I got all dressed up and put my hair up. It was a commemorative occasion. Anyway. More importantly, I reiterate, if you haven't seen Wicked, GO. NOW. Stop typing. I mean it.( Cut for space )

Had the busiest week ever last week. Looks like it's going to be just as busy this week. Best friend's birthday. Law school orientation. Boss got sick so I had to work. Homework. Little sister's college shopping. Little sister's college move-in. Helped another friend w/ some legal stuff. Friend flew in from Italy. Bf flew in from Philly. Law school started. Massive amounts of homework and reading. Don't even have all my books yet. Have to still edit two shows into DVDs...

But starting next week, I should only have law school and homework. I can't wait.

First day of law school was today. Had Prof. Bross for Property. He tries so hard to be funny, it's cute. Succeeds too. We had to read 50 pages for today, and I only managed to read 40. However, in class, we stopped at page 39, so I lucked out. Note to self: Must. Read. Ahead.

To f-list: Does anyone have the Julianne Hough album? Is it worth getting? I'm totally addicted to one of her songs now. *blushes*

But more importantly, I'm here to say happy birthday to Jessica. I know, I didn't get to it first thing in the morning like the rest of my f-list, but *points to first paragraph* and hey--that's why they have timestamp changes, right? And Jess? The present I was planning on sending... details did not work out. So I'm trying to figure something else out. Anyway. You are the sweetest girl and always know the perfect thing to say. Does anyone out there know anything about Adobe Premiere? I spent hours editing a wonderfully beautiful DVD and now it won't let me burn it. It says there is not enough room on the disc. So I just need to change the export settings right? The export settings is grayed out and won't let me change it and it's driving me FREAKING CRAZY. Got zero hours of sleep last night b/c of this. Well. Correction: I got 1 hour of sleep but it was at my desk, hunched over in my chair.

And then at work, for the first time in three years, the staff is sitting down with the partners to have a meeting to discuss staff issues. First time in THREE years. I've been holding onto feedback for THREE years. I was so excited about this meeting too. Especially with all the drama that's about to go down with a lady that has been nothing but horrible to me and my friends. (Drama is much fun if you are in the sidelines.) But I got an email this morning saying "Since you won't be here after Friday, can you please cover the receptionist so she can sit in on the meeting?" Three years of feedback people. THREE years. Says the head paralegal when she hears this: HA. They just don't want the Queen of Efficiancy to be there.

Orientation starts today. They sent us a case through the mail and told us to read and brief. I haven't briefed a case in 5 years. And what if I hadn't taken pre-law in college? Are we just supposed to magically know how to brief a case? Le sigh.

Points of note today:

• After I turned down the producing job last week, I went into this cute little jewelry store I frequent that is within walking distance of my house. The owner asked me if I would like to be her shop girl on days that she and her husband are both unavailable to watch the shop. She said it'd just a day/evening here and there and that I could bring my law school books in and just read!! So yay!
• Got my first law school assignment today. Have to read 30 pages of Torts. Am scared. So scared. Nervous too. But I'm glad everyone else around me thinks that I'll do well. I'm thinking that I should slowly quit all my extracurriculars. I may have to quit all except volunteer producing at church on Sunday mornings. Gah.
• I have one week left at work before I quit. They are throwing me a good-bye party for me at an attorney's house. Normally, they'd just take us to a nearby restaurant and pay for a happy hour. So I feel pretty special for getting an attorney-sponsored-but-not-firm-sponsored party.
• I'm so scared I'm going to cry when I leave this job. I've made some of my best friends here and it's going to be hard to not see them everyday. They've become my second family, you know? But on the other hand, I have the worst case of short-timers and I'm so FREAKING COLD all the time that I can't wait to leave. Le sigh.

Okay. I'm going to go copy stuff again. The sooner I finish, the sooner I get to go home and spend time with my Halpert. *grin*

So. Decision made. I'm choosing law school. Thanks to everyone for their advice and support. I felt very loved.

Basically, I had 4 choices.
1) Just law school
2) Just the job
3) Part time law school and then job.
4) Both law school and the job.
